I was so pleased with the entire trip. Your staff answered all my questions timely. We had a triple room. Alla arranged 3 twin beds in the Foss Rautara which was centrally located and we selected the right Iceland tour which allowed us free time to do other things, like horseback riding and the lava show. I did my advance homework to know Icelandair doesn't have a free meal so we brought a salad. It rains alot so we brought water proof clothes and shoes. Our tour guide, Kat, gave good advice for restaurants and shopping. It was a great trip for the money.... Read More

When we arrived, il was confusing for which buses to take to get to our destination, and the visit to the south side of Iceland was very nice but we did not visit the town of Vik, the guide was nice but to concerned about the time, an additional 30 minutes would have allowed photos to be taken but we enjoyed our trip to Iceland a lot. ... Everything was really good! The flight with Islandair was very good. The hotel location was great, the staff were great. The breakfast and area was just okay. The front desk gal made fresh croissants and coffee for an early flight which was very much appreciated. The tours were great and easy instructions to follow. We want to say that Gina (Regina) was amazing! She was one of the tour guides on our day to South Shore in Iceland, and she was part of Reyjavik EXcursions I believe. I loved how she explained how the day was going to go, explaining how long until next stop, etc. She also wore a high visibility vest when we went to the Black Sand Beach which was a great idea since it was easy to see her, as well as when we were walking to the glacier. I can’t say enough about how great Wingbuddy was. It took all of the stress out of travel and allowed me to really relax and enjoy my vacation. The excursions were phenomenal, the hotel was in a fantastic location with great staff and excellent breakfast, and the airline was great. I would normally spend weeks trying to figure out what to see and do on a trip and then stress over transportation - Wingbuddy took care of everything! All I had to do was show up with my passport. The hotel Fron was situated in a fabulous location. It was nice having an apartment style room…kitchen, separate bedroom. The restaurant served delicious dinners. Thank you for a great experience. There were no glitches in our trip at all. My only comment for improvement would be regarding the excursions. Some people (who did not book the the excursions with Wingbuddy) were doing optional activities i.e. some of them got dropped off to do an ATV tour and picked up on the way back, for example. If we had realized this we would have paid extra to do some of these things too. This is a minor point though. ICELAND DISCOVERY

  • Day 1: Canada - Reykjavik (Iceland)Flight with a good itinerary.  
  • Day 2: Reykjavik & Northern Lights Hunt

    Upon arrival at the airport in Iceland, make your way toward the bus terminal for the transfer to your hotel via shuttle bus. The rest of the day is free for you to start your exploration of Reykjavik, the capital and largest city in the country. The city owes its name, "Bay of Smoke", to the steam jets that could be seen rising from hot springs in the region and which probably impressed the first European settlers. Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavik.

    Evening: Northern Lights hunt:

    In the evening, after dinnertime, take part in a guided Northern Lights hunt tour. Far from the glow of Reykjavik, hunt for the elusive Northern Lights. From autumn until spring, during clear and cold dark nights, it is possible to witness one of nature's most incredible displays: Aurora Borealis. On this evening tour, you may be lucky enough to see them swirling and dancing across the sky, changing endlessly their color, shape, and size. 

    *If Northern Lights have not been observed, a second evening will be offered the next day with no additional cost.

  • Day 3: Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon

    Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before getting ready to depart for the stunning Blue Lagoon, a spectacular geothermal spa where lava and thermal water meet and complement one another. You will experience the ultimate relaxation, where the warm, mineral-rich waters are infused with natural active ingredients like silica and blue-green algae. Indulge in the soothing effects of the white silica mud, which gently cleanses and exfoliates your skin. Let the therapeutic minerals and salts restore balance and tranquility to both your body and soul, providing a truly rejuvenating escape. Lunch at leisure.   • Day 4: South Shore Adventure

    After your breakfast at the hotel, you will take the road toward Vik. You will drive along the South Shore, one of the main farm regions in the country, and pass by typical Icelandic farms, often with Icelandic horses roaming in the fields. If the skies are clear, you might see the area's two most famous volcanoes in the distance: Mount Hekla (last eruption in 2000) and Eyjafjallajokull (last eruption in 2010). 

    You will stop at the spectacular waterfall of Seljalandsfoss. If trail conditions allow, enjoy the unique experience of walking behind its cascading waters. A short drive away, you'll find Skogafoss, renowned for its picturesque shape and captivating geological history, an ideal spot for stunning photos. Continue your adventure by passing the majestic Myrdalsjokull Glacier on your way to Reynisfjara Beach. Take a stroll on the black sand shores, marveling at the extraordinary rock formations and the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavik. (Breakfast)

  • Day 5: Reykjavik 

    After your breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at leisure in the heart of Reykjavik. You can opt for one of the many optional tours offered to you at your hotel tour desk or from various tour agencies around town. If you're looking for a thrilling and unique experience, look no further than the lava shows in Reykjavik. This top-rated attraction offers visitors the chance to witness real molten lava up close in a safe and controlled environment. It's the only live show of its kind in the world and will leave you in awe of the power and beauty of nature. Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavik. (Breakfast)

  • Day 6: The Golden Circle

    After breakfast at your hotel, departure toward Fridheimar greenhouse, where you’ll step inside the inviting warmth of the greenhouse and stroll among rows of vibrant tomato plants. You’ll watch how fresh produce is grown in this unique setting. Then, you’ll head to Geysir geothermal area, with its 30 meters (98 ft.) column of water, shooting to the sky every 4 to 8 minutes. Lunch at leisure.

    Your visit continues with Gullfoss Waterfall, falling from the Hvita river to a depth of 32 meters (105 ft). Finally, discover Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the world’s oldest parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland’s largest lake. You might even have the rare chance to walk between two continents as the national park is on the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates! Return to Reykjavik. Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavik. (Breakfast)

  • Day 7: Reykjavik

    After breakfast at your hotel, continue your exploration of the region around Reykjavik during a full day at leisure. You can also opt for one of the optional tours available at the destination, ranging from traditional sightseeing to soft adventure activities. You can explore the vibrant Laugavegur and Rainbow Street for shopping and street art, hike up Mount Esja for stunning city views, relax at the Sky Lagoon with its geothermal waters and ocean views, and take an immersive flight over Iceland's landscapes. Overnight at your hotel in Reykjavik. (Breakfast)

  • Day 8: Reykjavik - Canada

    After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy some free time to wander around the old town of Reykjavik. Transfer to the airport for your flight home. (Breakfast)

Will there be someone waiting for us at the airport?

Airport transfers include shuttle passes. The shuttles leave the airport every hour and they are easy to locate from the arrival gate. You will just have to show your vouchers on the bus. The ride to Reykjavik is about 45 minutes.

 

Is the hotel far from the city?

The hotel is conveniently located close to the city. Within 20 minutes of walk, you will be in the heart of the Reykjavik.

Is it possible to book additional tours?

 Yes, your hotel will suggest a variety of excursions that you will be able to book directly with the tour desk. Additionally, there are several tour agencies on Reykjavik's main street, you may visit them on your arrival day.

Are tips included?

In Iceland, all bills include gratuity so tips are not expected. Tipping the guides, drivers, hotel staff and other local services is always appreciated and remains at your discretion.

What is the average cost of a meal?

All your breakfasts (buffets) are already included. For the other meals, you are free to taste the local gastronomy on your own. The cost of a lunch starts at $15 CAD / $11 USD if you eat light (like a sandwich) but can quickly go up to $35 CAD / $25 USD. It is important to know that the cost of living in Iceland is higher than in North America.

Is it possible to add extras nights?

I was so pleased with the entire trip. Your staff answered all my questions timely. We had a triple room. Alla arranged 3 twin beds in the Foss Rautara which was centrally located and we selected the right Iceland tour which allowed us free time to do other things, like horseback riding and the lava show. I did my advance homework to know Icelandair doesn't have a free meal so we brought a salad. It rains alot so we brought water proof clothes and shoes. The hotel Fron was situated in a fabulous location. It was nice having an apartment style room…kitchen, separate bedroom. The restaurant served delicious dinners. I had booked the room a night before our arrival to ensure we had a place to sleep. On check out the hotel did not charge me for this. Overall an excellent trip. Thank you for a great experience. There were no glitches in our trip at all. My only comment for improvement would be regarding the excursions. Some people (who did not book the the excursions with Wingbuddy) were doing optional activities i.e. some of them got dropped off to do an ATV tour and picked up on the way back, for example. If we had realized this we would have paid extra to do some of these things too. This is a minor point though.
